Ozoni is a special soup with Mochi (rice cake) to have it in the morning on New Year’s Day in Japan. Traditionally, Daikon-radish, carrots, mitsuba, & mochina are added in Ozoni. For this time, I added Konbu for happy healthy life.
3 cups Dashi
Two strings of Konbu
One handful Wakame
One handful Tororo-Konbu
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1 Tbsp Sake
1/4-1/2 tsp salt
4 small Mochi
#1) Heat Dashi in a pot at medium temperature and add two string of Konbu, and cook until they become tender.
#2)Meanwhile, bake Mochi in a grill oven about 5 minutes until the Mochi has expanded and browned.
#3) Season soup with soy sauce, Sake, and salt.
#4) In a soup bowl, place baked Mochi and pour hot soup.
